+1 on not cutting with jig saw. a table saw or bandsaw did well, mainly becuase it doesnt put preasure on the piece, just removes it.. problem is on very large pieces is the blade gets super hot, and starts melting the edges(at least when I used it for speaker box's)

Hey mickguard, I want to make a body with a script "a" as the holes.
Great for a laugh at least.
upper or lower case?
-
haha.. its in the 40's here and my windows frosted... getting closer to doom..
I love when friends back home see pics of me and my friends in the snow, its a novelty to them.
OMG SNOW!!
they dont realize, that im at subway, witch took 15 mins to get into the parking lot because the plow put a GIANT bank in front of the side entrance, and I had to come into the lot sideways.
My favorite is when it snows so bad you have to clear it off your roof for fear of cave in(my garage).

Not if you use the good ole chain rasp.
haha! its about that season, Ive seen some impressive things done with Ice and one of those.
-
are they all coil splitters or what are the functions of eatch switch?
-
I also dont like the LP single cut.
Id try the PRS single or double, probobly the single, as it will be the next shape(and also my first carve) that I go for.
-
i move back to TX in december.. I might miss the snow.. woot..
-
I also enjoy it..
the tap tone is pretty awesome too.
-
we used the hell out of flex shaft stuff when I worked at a jewelers. never seen one melt though..
-
indy went from 70 to 46...
lake effect is hitting northern Indiana though..
I hope it snows mid december, a friend of mine from TX is coming up..
I want to nail her with a snow ball..
other then that, snow sucks..

is the epoxy the same stuff you use for inlays drak?
EX: I bought some black epoxy for my ebony boards inlays, can I use the same epoxy for a grain filler?
-
yes, its a link he copyed from the address bar of his own blog

I think im using 15 guage(car wiring leftovers). but my pickups are the thinest wire Ive ever seen.
as far as solder, I use whatever radio shack had on the wall.
guitar wiring is super simple. especially because its passive.
im a bit **** about wiring though. Most of my stuff ends up in sheilded looms or labled tape.

Holds up fine. I did the same on my last build (all maple tele) using gumwood dust and CA for the inlay dots, but its a moot point once the whole fretboard was covered in a few layers of poly.
id expect that from a maple fretboard... what do you think if it were rosewood or ebony? somthing that doesnt have a finish...
-
heres one of the two I was talking about..
-
true..
it all started when I hot rodded my strat, and took apart a BC rich..
whats funny is now I look at all the guitars I wanted and I rate them totaly different.
less of OH COOL ITS BLACK!
more of,
wow, look at how the binding of the neck blends with the body.
check out the figure in that middle lam.
I wonder if the middle pickup is put in series or parallel in the middle POS.
-
i cant find any off hand.. ive only been seaching for 1min though..
theres a pic of it here
theres a great website link in some thread here.. I have it bookmarked at home. ill try and find it here at work .

+1 on having someone with experiance refret that.
there is alot involved, and if you wanted to you could allways buy somthing from a pawn shop to learn on.
ruining a vintage guitar would not be a good way to learn. or at least you wouldnt feel good about it.
-
ok, So ive been paying off bills and whatnot getting ready to move.. but I decided to finish these two before then
im missing a few pickups, a neck mounting plate, and for some reason guitar fetish didnt send me two of the nuts for my wilkinson tuners.
Some parts Ill get from there again.
some I WONT.
crazy to think that after all the wood, tools, sandpaper, hardware, pickups, etc I could of bought the guitar of my dreams.. oh well..
-
wow I really like the birch neck..
cant wait to see the body!
-
ok..
first I dont see a veneer.. maybe Im blind but the tummy cut and arm rest match the top and back for grain...
as far as paper goes, I dont even use 50.
I start at 100. fine sand at 250, then 320, then 400.
250 is enough for paint, after that you can go higher.
also, after your first link change the tags to URLs that way you dont get yelled at and the 56K crew can view em...

do you have enough pocket to support the neck?
other then visually I dont see anything weird about it, as long as the pocket has enough room to support the neck, also your taper will vary a bit.
