  1. Any chance of a brief overview of life in the military? Obviously no confidentials, but wondering just how different life may be to the average 9 to 5ers You've got me curious, that's for sure.
  2. Does the earvana utilize any other adjustments like the buzz feiten does? ie. different tuning parameters?
  3. +1 Desert burst is great, especially because it also solves the refinishing dilemma. Personally, I find that people tend to overlook the full potential of a well placed bumper sticker
  4. All this compensated tuning bizzo , I can understand. The interesting thing of this is that as soon as you hit a fretted string, you're throwing alot of that hard work out the window. Especially considering that everybody plays and frets at differing pressures, and in fretting the note, there is a chance that a slight bending of the string (and I mean minescule) can throw all that out. Again, it makes sense to compensate, but if you don't alter or adopt a better fretting technique in conjunction with the compensation, it seems to leave you back at square one. My thoughts, is all.
  5. Have you finished that first celebratory beer yet? Good, then open another one. Great achievement RGGR Looking forward to the painted pics.
  6. The 'buzz' certainly knows his stuff. It'd be lost on me though. I've got this little problem, whereas I tend to play perfectly tuned guitars, but seem to make good intonated notes turn bad. Every time I touch the strings to the frets it sounds like a pack of howling alley cats. Ever heard a deaf 5 year old play the violin? similar sounding.
  7. I hear lemon oil also works well when squeezed over fish. I do know Tommy Imanuelle uses 'Mr Sheen' on all his fretboards. He's pretty particular about that one. Clean, wax and polish as you dust!!
  8. Welcome, and good to see a bit more representation from the A,U of S Here's a link to a timber merchant, which may help you out. I live near the one in Melbourne, but they also have one up in Sydney. Good luck and I'll read you later. Mathews timber link
  9. And the first vote is in. I think I'm in love :D I Love the Les Paul !!
  10. I've got a factory fitted TonePros TOM on my Maton electric. No problems there. I dunno about the pricing and such......... but it's a good design and works as intended.
  11. Bondo.....bondo.......bondo......bondo I was a panel beater for 17 years. The smell alone now makes me crawl up in a foetal position and cry 'mummy'.
  12. In regards to jig-sawing. Get your hands on a thicker, more robust blade for cutting thick materials such as guitar bodies. (It provides a truer right-angled cut)) Using average gauged blades can cause that blade to bend, and in doing so, under-cut your template/marks. Which also causes an ugly, angled cut downwards. To be avoided where possible.
  13. I think I and a few others have probably missed his point. I've never used/made that type of string bender , and can't really help, sorry. Anyone?
  14. 24 hrs seems to be the average turn-around time (48 at worst) It's definitely worth the wait , anyhoo.
  15. Here's another with a similar style of headstock. Click the link If you like it , why not? I know it makes me rather moist.
  16. That's a slightly altered form of pyrography , I guess. Love it. Any plans for the headstock?
  17. Warmoth do a few of those in van halen & srv configs. clicky
  18. That's the stuff. When you remove the fineline tape, make sure that you pull the tape back along itself at a low angle. The aim of this is to allow the tape to cut its own edge and thus provide a finer paint edge in doing so. The only time you should be even contemplating using the razor method is if you have an excess of paint buildup along this edge, and you start to experience tear-out. (too much paint to cut its own clean edge.)
  19. Had I known it doubled as a paper towel support rack, I would've bought one for the kitchen also
  20. Paypal seems to protect the buyer, and less so with the seller. IMHO In this instance, Paypal did no favours, and for all intents and purposes, the buyer got his goods AND a full refund, for voicing a late delivery complaint BEFORE the due delivery date had lapsed. The issue was raised with paypal, but .....sympathy and no action What's that bright shiny thing over there? ......Ooh it looks just like a loophole ehmm.......... Check over the merch first and then decide.
  21. I think it's a given that his website has received alot more hits since this thread started. All courtesy of PG. I had a 'Captain Cook' a bit earlier. What can I say, I also found his videos (complete with underwear) rather.........illuminating. Mickguard........ I guess the lack of trousers while playing must help in the overall resonance through strings, down right leg, up the other leg and somehow enable better tonality through lack of chafing. ***? Corduroy is another tonekiller !! lol
  22. So..... any idea on next year's fashion ? I could do with a bit of headstart. Congrats. WezV
  23. That smells like a pretty juicy clue there, Perry. This place wouldn't be in Perth, would it ?
