  1. I'll just throw another veiw ito the works here, my machines limit my body blank choice, i have to have a 2+ peice body as my planer is only 300mm wide, my blanks when glued up are wider than that. I do buy one peice tho, rip it up the center plane then glue back together, the grain matches near perfect. On my first i put a mahogany strip down an ash body. You cant do nice touches like that with a 1 peicer. well you can, but you have to make it a 2 peicer first. Make it work for you, if 1 peice is what you want to have then have a 1 peice. Do a search for stew's stewcraft (i think thats what it was called) it was made out of multiple strips of wood and cleared over, it looked fantastic. and that quarter over flat sawn, what i heap of voodoo. i can take my flat sawn neck blank, turn it to the quarter orientation, itl sound the same i bet.
  2. Nice guitar! And can i say that cola you have tastes the best! Its great and only 43p a bottle if i remember. Hehe.
  3. You can use frets that are thiner but the same hight.
  4. Yes, i would love to be you! because through all the agony your know when you get it you WILL wet your pants with exitement. And then you can shred away on the most killer guitar i have EVER seen.
  5. I like it, its very nice. The drawing is good aswell.
  6. yeh, its now 2.44 am here. The bent top over the forarm contour is called a drop top, as the top 'drops' over the contour.
  7. sorry, i should have said. Its a bit late here in scotland, ive been up forever sliped my mind i spose. Its very clean, is that a drop top? even if it isnt its very cool. Ash is a very pretty wood. It should sound good.
  8. there talkin about the wood combo, not thickness. well they are talking about thickness but only on the top, helge has 5mm, maiden has 3/4".
  9. clean forgot about it dude, stuff on my mind, i dont have the funds anyway, i have £50 but thats noware near what you want for it.
  10. it means sexy, said with a kinda broad scots accent. i really have to stop saying scottish stuff on here, no-one understands. Well typing scottish anyway, as in typ like i speak. But i dont sound scottish.... Anyway, it means sexy, cause thats what it is!!
  11. Never tryed the acoustic strings before, but that said my acoustic is never played because its so bad. On a side note my top C# snaped whent tuning down, weird.
  12. +1 I asume your wanting to do a trans or natural colour on it? Its not gona work, well it will itl just look awfull because of the sanded through veneer. Paint it a solid colour, it will look great.
  13. If you can wait till friday/saturday, i'll take it off your hands. I get paid then and i dont have enough right now. I'll pm you on friday if its still for sale.
  14. Theres a jig out there for a table saw too, is you have acces to a table saw that is.
  15. I used a band saw. Worked fine, just be prepaired to do alot of sanding to get it perfect.
  16. Is it just a normal knob? check for a small grub screw somwhere if it has on loosen it. If not just yank a bit harder, it should come off.
  17. jees, if you build your own neck, angle the heel so the fret board is not parallel to the bottom, at the end where you think there will be a gap, instead of 90deg, add on how ever many degree's your angle is to the 90deg, ie, is its a 3degree tilt back, have a 93degree botom of neck to end of heel. It not that hard really, if you have a protracter you can do it. Heres a pic. Thats how i did it on my build, for the next one im building a jig simply because im going to use it again. Also Drak, are you cutting your template in say 1/2" thick scrap (or any thickness scrap) and sanding the angle into the face of the template?
  18. I compleatly second Draks post, you ROCK!! I wish i was as good as you, oh well, maby in 10 years time i'll be at the standard you are now. Great work!
  19. Godin, that what i love about this design, the fact it looks off balance, it apears to go to the right, but it is actually balanced from a design point of view (im talkin as in theres a simelar amount of material on each side) i think its cool. Also i like to see new ideas, in this case the of balance-ness being tryed out, its fresh.
  20. There was a pic on here a while ago with a 3coil humbucker (it was actualy 1humbucker and a single in the same surround if i recall corectly) maby that could look good.
  21. I dont think it does actually look better, i like it off center, it looks 'fast' for lack of a better word, it looks like the design is moving to the right, as if its going to pounce on somthing. It looks good, but the left one looks better. All IMO of course.
