  1. Can I ask a quick question to you clever people out there... I understand about scale length and where to measure from etc, but where should my saddles be adjusted to get them to intonate properly? do I adjust them so they're about in the middle, closer to the neck, or further back?
  2. Haven't had a lot of spare time in last couple of weeks, but this afternoon I finally got some more routing done. The neck route is finished, I've also routed the bridge pickup cavity and I've made a start on the neck pickup
  3. The Grail has a Maple neck not Mahogany, there's a article in this months Guitar World mag, I don't have my scanner rigged up at the moment so I took a pic with my digital camera, you can read it here.... http://www.smartgroups.com/picvault/225772...lllllllllll.JPG Be warned 56k users it's pretty big
  4. Order a free 'Sound Wood' catologue from www.craft-supplies.co.uk , they're in the UK
  5. I've decided to build a bass when my RG project is finished (if it ever get's finished ) I've been searching for some online plans and I haven't found anything so far. I haven't decided what body shape to do yet so I'm not looking for a specific design as long as it's 4 string. Can anyone help? Cheers
  6. Looks great the neck is very impressive!
  7. I've started work on the Alder/Maple blank as I haven't brought a drill press/drum sanders to sand inside the curves on the Piranhna Pine body. I decided to do the routing before cutting the body out, I attached guide rails to my router to keep nice straight lines, I didn't want to risk routing freehand on such nice wood
  8. I second that! Rhoads plans would be awesome
  9. I've got a super strat body sitting in my room collecting dust, I was thinking about covering it in Beer bottle labels
  10. I've just brought a new Jigsaw (800w) and it cuts though guitar blanks very fast with no burning, I find using good quality blades makes all the difference.
  11. By the way that 2ng tag should of been...
  12. First you need to upload them, there are loads of free pic hosting sites... www.photobucket.com , www.smartgroups.com etc Once the pic is uploaded right click on it, select 'properties', copy the URL code, then place the URL code inbetween the img tags, ie... insert code here Hope that makes sense?
  13. Current guitars.... Charvel Fusion Custom Session Pro Les Paul Copy Crafter FX550 EQ Electro-Acoustic Yamaha C40 Classical .......sold in the last year Tokai Love Rock, Jackson RX10D Rhoads, Jackson Performer Rhoads.
  14. A lot of people seem to use gold hardware with Walnut guitars but I think the chrome looks very cool Nice job
  15. That looks awesome I really like the black binding.
  16. Yeah that's his 'Glory' guitar, custom made by Andy Beech I'm a huge Zakk fan but I have to say it's the one guitar he owns that I don't like ... there's some info and pics here.... http://www.blacklabelsociety.net/gearzakk2.html
  17. I'm Jon, I'm 21 and live in the UK I work as a Metal Polisher and I also run a small mail order company supplying metal polishing kits mainly to the motorbike trade. I've been playing guitar for about 9 years and I've has lessons for most of that time, I've spent the last 3 years studying classical guitar until I finally quit my lessons a few weeks ago. I play guitar in a (as yet un-named!) metal band. I'm new to guitar building and I have zero woodworking experience. I've just started building my first project and I've learnt endless abouts of info from this site in the short time I've been here. My bank account is being emptied very quickly as my shed fills up with more tools but I'm really loving the work, it beats the s**t out of getting covered in polishing compound!
  18. Cool, thanks for the advice Wes
  19. I was wondering if it was classed as a quilt or flame, I haven't got a clue so if someone could tell me??
  20. No it was from ebay, it came with a few extras too ... new humbuckers, pots, etc all for £56 Here's a shot of it slighly wet to bring out the flame....
  21. I want to keep it natural with a gloss laquer but I need to get praticing on my painting skills first
  22. No more progress on the guitar as I need to buy myself a drill press and drum sanders to sand inside the curves etc, but I received the other body blank this morning The Pirahna body will be a prototype this will be the wood I use on the final guitar, unless I make a really good job on the Pine body and decide to make something different with this one Maple top... Alder back...
