snife
I'm planing on building an SG body and buying a warmoth neck for it. I want the neck to be 25.5" scale but the template I'm working from is 24.75" SO can I just slap the longer scale neck on it or would I have to adjust the bridge postion?? thanks. Dr. Jabsco
is the neck 25.5? and you would have to adjust the pickup positions as well. (is the template your talking about a body template?) ps. WELCOME to the fourms
snife
yeah, warmoth sells 25.5 or 24 3/4 scale necks, so I was asking if I got the 25.5 one could I just use it without adjusting anything I printed the full guitar template off of a CAD drawing of a gibson SG
american_jesus
if you're doing a 25.5" scale neck, you're going to have to use the full 25.5" scale. the neck pickup will have to be pushed up the extra 3/4" and the bridge pushed back 3/4". dont know if you've caught onto this yet, but the neck is NOT 25.5 inches. from the nut to the 12th fret is 12.75", as it is from the 12th fret to the bridge. that's how they get the 25.5 inch scale. if you were to leave the bridge where it is, the intonation would be screwey, and it'd never play really in tune.
