ChandlerPelhams
I've already wet sanded my guitar down to 1200 grit, and now I am on to the final polishing, what do I have to do to get the nice shine? Do I have to buff it, or can I just polish it by hand, and what should I use?
BeAR
Try using some micro fine paper before the final polish. After the 1200, move to 1500, then 2000. If you take your time, youll be able to polish out the 2000 scratches by hand . If you try to polish out 1200 scratches you really need a machine buff to be 100% sucessful. Brian
After that there are a host of rubbing and buffing compounds on the market you can use.
ChandlerPelhams
what exactly should I use to buff it with?
BeAR
pure cotton T shirt material, folded into a pad, soft fluffy cotton sport socks, or even babies nappies. (stop the laughing up the back.....not disposable ones.) Used em all and had good results too.
ChandlerPelhams
and, sorry, one more question do i polish it with a type of compound or something like that when i'm using my baby nappies?
Brian
I can't comment on what other's are using. I'm still going through my original purchase of Stew Mac's foursome (course, medium, fine and swirl remover). I thought I would whip through those can's a long time ago but I'm barely 1/3 of the way through them.
