erikbojerik
bump Yo Coen, did you end up finishing off the spalt strat yet? I just got some spalt from sandi1070 myself (thanks for the inspiration), and I'm really having a hard time trying to figure out what color of hardware (bridge, pup covers, etc) will set it off nicely. ManWhoSoldTheWorld
Yeah, I wanna see what it looks like done. And Sandi1070 has some very nice wood. bookmatched flame maple top, under 10 bucks.
tsl602000
well, I learned an important lesson: one component poly-urethane won't cure hard within a month or 3. I had a lot of bad luck with the finish. I went with nitro after all and the body needs about one more week to cure. Don't worry, I'll post pics as soon as I'm finished. mdw3332
tsl, does your's need a little brother? The idea for doing the binding came from your early post.
spirit
Niiiiiiice! Is that bound front and back, or am I seeing things?
tsl602000
tsl, does your's need a little brother not really, mine already got a few really cute sisters Looks like you'll have some problems with the binding. I can see the router took of quite a bit too much on the armrest area.
mdw3332
Spirit, thanks, it is bound front and back. The back is mahogany and I think I like it better than the front. tsl, the "dent" in the armrest liiks worse in the picture than it really is. This was my first complete binding job - maybe I should have started with something other than spalted maple?
ultraman
I'm also in doubt if I should put on a flamed maple binding on the neck, like I did on my telecaster: holy moly! thats some beautiful flamed maple!!!

themikestro
Now that is a fine looking guitar! Love the lack of fret markers, I've always wanted a no marker neck! Luverly!
Simo
That looks awesome I really like the black binding.
spirit
That is some bitchin' wood! Flamed maple and spalted maple! Wow! Very nice guitar.
john
ooh a contoured heel like the 50th anniversary strat... very tasty!
Setch
Very classy TSL, you've got the variations on a Fender theme down to an art, I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Thanks Setch, Right now I'm refinishing that black flame tele. The finish was after all not to my liking and I'll put on an all maple neck. That'll keep me busy. Still dreaming on building a "perfect strat"... then it's LP and archtop time I guess...
cr_XD
i´m in loveeeeeeeeeee.... just awesome, i don't like strats because of the rounded sides, but somehow i love the squares like this.
Ace
Ooooh I wanna touch that sexy neck Well, that spalt is not too shabby either ;-) so long ace
westhemann
very, very nice spalt...i like the heel and the lack of fret markers the best i still think you should have painted it pink though....maybe later?
skibum5545
Something about the curves on that make it reminiscent of a Tele, yet with a strat body...weird.... The spalt on that is the best spalt I have ever seen, and I am very glad it made it into the hands of a luthier as skilled as you. Keep up the good work!
