daveq
You are joking aren't you. Please tell me you're joking. Umm,.... yes - of course. I am a bit diverse in my musical taste but if it helps - the main influence in me picking up a guitar was George Lynch. I can get into some softer music but Bryan Adams is way too fem for me. What the... I would have also thought a lot of those real metal guitarists deserved a spot higher than Angus Young. Sure I love ACDC, but they weren't exactly metal If I had to choose I would be picking the metallica guys or dimebag darrel or the iron maiden guys as #1, but like somoene pointed out - its a thing based on the opinon of the people at Guitar World, and it wont reflect everyone's views. However... there is some pretty dissapointing inclusions... I would like to read their justifications.
commidaddy
Someone up there said that every beginner guitarist plays Iommi....I guess I'm just weird lol;) I started out trying to play Rhoads and Hammett and the Youngs, and then I moved to SRV. Who knows? I still consider myself a beginner, considering the going on 6 years I've put into playing guitar is nothing compared to the 50 years some people put into it. FajiiNako
Actually, i think he's talking about everyone knowing how to play Iron Man, Paranoid, and a few others.
pickleweaseler
2. Many classic Sabbath riffs like paranoid and ironmain are nearly identical to Deep Purple riffs. Ironmain is basically the same then smoke on the water or burn from Deep Purple. Paranoid is a absolute typical pentatonic style riff like much riffs from Deep Purple. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ironman from 1970? I believe Smoke on the Water and Burn are from 1972 and 1974 respectively. If that's so, then Iommi must posess a time machine of some kind in order to rip off songs that didn't yet exist.
