killemall8
Definitely not the truss rod. I can visibly see it vibrating and hitting around the center of the neck. Even with high action and a decent amount of relief. It almost looks like it has really low tension. But i even threw a 56 on there and it still does it. ScottR
I've always taken the stance If I can't find it and I can't hear it through the amp, I don't worry about it. Although once I did find a fret that was high only under the low E string. A little spot work took care of that one. SR
killemall8
It does come through the amp. It is a pretty loud rattle/ buzz when you hit the open E. Very strange.
ScottR
If you see it hitting and know it's not a loose saddle or nut, and you have the proper amount of neck relief--if there is such a thing what with the varying opinions, and it does come through the amp, what are you going to do? It sounds like lowering the fret under that string or raising the action are the only options left. SR
curtisa
That's a curly one. Must be some kind of fluky combination of string tension, scale length, hardware used, resonance or construction that sets it off. What happens if you put a capo on the 1st fret and down-tune a half step back to normal pitch?
curtisa
You could always chuck in some pickups with big, powerful magnets to kill the sustain. Set them nice and close to the strings. The last thing you want those strings to do is do that annoying "vibratey-notey" thing
killemall8
Here are 2 more updates. Got the zebra cleared. Took the color great and looks pretty neon in the sun. Also getting ready to glue up another ziricote SS.

Lyss
This is some beautiful work! And it's totally cool to see someone else working through mental barriers. I have some anxiety and OCD, so this gives me hope!

Ive gotten a few more things going, but not much real progress.
killemall8
Life has gotten a little tough lately. One of those things where something happens and everything else non related is affected too. Been trying to distract myself by working on stuff still. A little too anxious to spend a lot of time on it. But here are a few updates. Hope everybody has a great thanksgiving.

The bookmatch on the V is amazing and the black stringers in the neck are a classy touch. Are those ebony? SR

killemall8
Finally getting around to working on some more guitars. Picked up some tamo ash veneer, and i knew exactly what i wanted to do with it. I could picture the grain lines fitting perfectly in this shape. In the pics its right after i dyed the grain black and sanded it back. I plan on doing it trans purple. Also got a cool pic of a coopers hawk in my front yard. It obliterated a quail.
Prostheta
Now THAT is a very unique looking finish! Bravo.
Andyjr1515
Love that veneer! Â The whole look is conversation stoppingly good The photo of the hawk is also publication standard....
Norris
Upon my word! Lovely bird, SPECTACULAR guitar!
ScottR
That top is AWESOME!  I think what we are all saying is go straight to clear from here; do not stop at purple. Do another one the same way and do trans purple on it. 'Course as fast as you work, it is probably already purple by now. And Luis man, you always did take great pictures. I get a coopers in my back yard every now and then, obliterating white wing doves. killemall8
Thanks guys. Unfortunately that picture is taken with a filter. It really doestn look that amazing. I used the filter to emulate the grain popping with a finish. It is pretty pale with no filter.

killemall8
Glued up the tamo ash v. I went with black grainfiller instead of staining and sanding back, i like it a lot better.
killemall8
Happy new year everybody. I havnt done much lately. Been going through a rough patch in life and just lost all motivation to work on anything, it makes me way too anxious. Plus i just hate winter and it throws off my mood. I finally got around to finish sanding a couple of guitars, but nothing else really productive. I cut some 7 piece neck blanks up today and they are about ready for gluing, but thats it. Should i start a new thread or should i keep it going on this one?
