westhemann
I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about this part, but the rough out is finished...Dremel saves the day again
westhemann
Now I am thinking of how to solve the next part. The body is thicker than it needs to be by 1/8" or so.I could just thin it with my Safe T Planer,Or I could radius the back.Honestly I am not sure a radius would even look right... westhemann
I just had a thought about the back....I will try it tomorrow, and if it does not look right I can use the Saf T Planer to just shave it back flat.

westhemann
Not much to show today.I spent the day thinning the back and trying to flatten out minor imperfections...The Saf T Planer works as advertized, but once I get myself a wood shop I need to hook up an old drill press to a larger flat surface, because with the tiny table on a drill press, all it does is mirror whatever imperfections are on the back side, and stability is an issue. With a large table though it would be super sweet and much cheaper than a huge planer, plus you have the option of planing a top already attached to a body and neck. I am trying something new this time.I mixed up a tiny amount of epoxy, put on my rubber(powder free) gloves, and rubbed the epoxy into the fretboard until it disappeared....hopefully leaving a tougher but wetter looking surface.May take another application. What you see in the pup rout is glue that spilled through the hole in the neck pocketthat you have to drill to get from neck pup to bridge pup. westhemann
Oh,and by the way,my sapelle "moved" after planing, glue up,and cutting out the body...it cupped slightly lengthwise and because a V is so long I am having hell trying to hide it..wish me luck with that
westhemann
And now I totally need to clean my house..
westhemann
So I did not have much time this weekend, since I only had one day and I used half of it to not change a fuel filter...but I did get the control cavity cover routed, the 3 way switch drilled, and the top and back flattened and sanded to 100 grit. And I am out of 150 and 220.. RestorationAD
I use black on everything that is not dark. Since this is not a dark guitar it would get black in my shop.

Thoughts? What a beautiful V ! I think I missed the color you have in mind for it. But unless you make it really dark, black hardware will look just perfect on this guitar.
