krizalid
hai, i'm just going to build my very first guitar any time soon and i'm just wondering if someone could show or give a detailed plan of making clamps?
Brian
Well you can try this if you have elastic bandages or if you want something a little more perment and have some other tools to work with you can try this.
MikeB
the bandages idea was innovative!! my dad made clamps like the shop made clamps, except using stud bar etc... to clamp it up, the hammering of wedge in looks like it could damage the workpiece. fidgec94
On the main site, theres a description of how to make spool clamps. Pretty simple, good for glueing tops onto bodies and the like

westhemann
spool clamps are great....if you make them though make the circles of some of them larger...sometimes you need to clamp uneven peices
renablistic
ummmm, why not buy 'em? for the time you save (in my opinion) the costs are almost nothing...
Snork
they are something..... quite a pretty penny actually when it all adds up. 10 bucks a pop.

Southpa
They are real easy to make, you just have to get an assembly line going. I have about 30, cost was about a buck apiece.
soapbarstrat
"ummmm, why not buy 'em? for the time you save (in my opinion) the costs are almost nothing... " Because if you already have a drill-press and scraps of wood around, you can make a batch of them in the same time it would take to fill out an order on the internet. Then you'd already be using them long before ones you would order would arrive a week or so later. About the only thing that really slows me down these days is ordering and waiting for already made tools to arrive. Plus, I sometimes have to send some back, because they are not made as well as advertised.
