C.R.S.Km.D
NECK maple neck rosewood fretboard block inlays cream binding for neck BODY basswood this project came about when i found a way to include it into my Visual Arts Studies practical. i thought id try for something simple because of time restraints, hence the V no curves and went with a tuneomatic instead of a floyd rose like last time. the theme of this guitar (at present) is industrial i had the idea of painting it with black and yellow chevrons 9electric hazard style) and with a tred/diamond plate pickguard. gold hardware 'Tone rider Generator pickups' if any one has used these please tell me how they sounded Nitro paint? yes or no
C.R.S.Km.D
unfortunatley in my eagerness to start i forgot to take pictures from the begining. any way here we go pic guard template
VesQ
yay, school projects are fun to watch. it´s almost always a question whether you make it or not until the deadline. I built fretslotting miter box as school project and i almost went nuts cause project was bit more than i could handle. but i did it eventually. good luck to your project. C.R.S.Km.D
cut and routed and beveled out side of pickguard bevel even though i could ahve made all of the body from scratch i thought it quicker to get a body and neck blank. this is purely due to time constraints for school. C.R.S.Km.D
im not sure but i think he has a airplane in his garage btw pretty cool so far. yes that is indeed an aeroplane it is now gone down to the hanger and is being painted and run through final tests before flying (yes it will fly because it is not the first one we have built) and cheers the guitar has been undercoated and should get first coat of paint on today. should the body match the head stock or not....? (same pattern on headstock as body)

(same pattern on headstock as body) I think a matching headstock always adds a touch of sophistication to a build, try printing out a picture of what you want it to look like on the computer to scale, then lay it on top and see how it looks. ae3
I'm with you, plain black looks better IMO. The stripes are too thick on such a small headstock.
C.R.S.Km.D
got the undercoating done today by the way i went with a half built neck (truss rod installed, fretboard slotted, blank headstock) and the finished it with the head stock and inlays i wanted mixing paint and thinner (nitro) before painting painting first undercoat done
Reinhold
Yeah, I'd go without on this one. I wasn't expecting the stripes to be so thick, but they look awesome that way.

VesQ
Probably that pickguard would suit better if you painted it black.

C.R.S.Km.D
here is my attept at showing it black and still shinney and to compare the silver i have to say im still liking the silver as my idea behind this project was to look industrial. i think with the chevrons (electrical hazard tape style) and the standard tread plate it forfill this goal better as most work places would not bother to pay more for less visible tred plate. just MHO. but i still want to hear all of yours
Reinhold
If you can manage it, I would also try to do some more industrial inlays, whether they be of some metal material or some type of acrylic that matches the body or overall theme. StormLeader
Are you painting the black strips like in the mock-ups you did? If so, those are not really chevrons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevron_%28insignia%29 But I'm figuring that those (The mock-ups) were just done really quick to get an idea of the pick-guard? -Stormy Edited June 17, 2010 by StormLeader

Blazer
Is that a Saga flying V kit you're using? The body routs and the shape of the headstock of your guitar are a perfect match.
Untitled_Project
The guitar reminds me of the 80's christian metal band stripper!
