avengers63
I'm VERY interested to see how this redwood burl comes out. You say you're dying the top red?
Simo
Yep, only a light tint of red though, it won't be too dark.

Simo
Just a quick update.... the body has now been routed to shape and the edges sanded ready for the roundover.
Simo
I've got a bit more work done this afternoon, I've routed the roundover and made a start on the sanding...
erikbojerik
VERY nice! What are you using for the black accent line?
Simo
It's just dyed veneer, I use 2mm thick sheets to get a nice bold line.
Xanthus
Wow, fantastic Simo! Is the beast hollow/chambered on the inside? Quite a big roundover too, but it adds another dimension to the edges of the top wood. Love it!
Simo
Thanks No chambering, so it's a reasonably heavy body, although having a 1/2" thick top has helped keep the weight down as the Redwood is very light. komodo
that is first-class. Can you give us a brief explanation of how you dyed the veneer? Did you dye it or do you purchase it like that?
Simo
It's already dyed, I get it from.... http://www.anitamarquetry.co.uk/acatalog/C...rs__1_5mm_.html ...the one I use is the dyed black Sycamore (at the bottom of the page)
Daniel Sorbera
Very nice. Looks like you got a great bookmatch out of the redwood as well. It looks very classy.
SJE-Guitars
Looks fantastic! Love the accent line. Look forward to seeing the neck and stainless steel inlays - something was considering recently!
Mr_Buttman
Simo, your builds are always awesome! Perfect wood and shape choiсе and clear work. I've mentioned you used Nordstrand pickups for your previous build too. Have you ever tried Nordstrand Dual Coils? (image).

I've mentioned you used Nordstrand pickups for your previous build too. Have you ever tried Nordstrand Dual Coils? (image). Thanks I'm actually using a Dual Coil for this bass, along with a Fat Stack. I'm building 5-string bass now and it'll have 2 Dual Coils Nordstrand pickups. So, one man is building custom onboard preamp for this bass. And he needs resistance and inductance. I've called Carey (from Nordstrand) and he told they don't know inductance! (i don't believe this...). Maybe you have ability to measure it? (as i know the special device is needed for measuring).
Simo
Sorry I can't help with that, I'm the first to admit I don't have a clue when it comes to electronics!.... in any case, I'm building a 6 string, so they're bound to be different.
