Boggs
I do... Picked this Cuban Mahogany up from my supplier the day after Christmas... It's a full 8/4 thick. This is as unfinished a project (multiple) as it gets unless it has roots still attached and in the ground!
avengers63
The top end already looks set to be a V.
Geo
I vote for a large, 60" scale V-bass tuned down an octave. Lovely wood!
Michael.Speer
got any plans for it?
Boggs
No one specific thing. I can make a full body from a solid section, resaw that for a top and back as well, make another couple of bodies resawing and bookmatching and a several more tops and backs as well... I have to lay things out to see what would be the most efficient and which models I could make body cores from this.
avengers63
That big crack going 3/4 of the way through the piece will limit your options. Were it me, I'd cut off the un-cracked portion ASAP to prevent it from splitting all the way down.
Boggs
That's the intent. I need to get some wax to seal where I cut first though so it doesn't check...
Michael.Speer
what does checking mean?
mojoman
what does checking mean? CRACKING you could drill a small hole through it right past the crack if it going to be a while till you can saw it up
