avengers63
I've been seeing some old Kay "speedbump" pups lately. They have me curious. Does anyone have any experience with them or know what they'd compare to?
avengers63
(crickets chirping) It's just as well that nobody seems to know anything. They're going for $60-$70 each. No bargain there. I'd rather get DeArmonds for that price. I KNOW they sound nice.
ToddW
edit: Oh, removable pickups . . . (googled them) What I said wasn't applicable. Edited August 5, 2008 by ToddW
avengers63
I didn't see the original message, but I was meaning the 'speedbump' pups like these: http://www.gravitystrings.com/images/60...ickup%20001.jpg
psw
I saw the original thread but I had never heard of "speed bump: pickups. Seeing the picture I looked them up in Milan's "Pickups..." book and though many obscure designs, not these...so still a mystery. There was a time when pickups came in many variations of size and style...generally things have settled on generic forms since the rise of replacement pickups. In short, I have no idea nor even a reputation for how they sound or why they might be desirable (unless you had a Kay guitar which you wish to restore). pete
SwedishLuthier
I have no idea of these particular pickups. Kay bought their pickups mainly from Rowe or DeArmond. Thats all I know. Sorry...
