Flat-sawn Honduras Vs. Quarter-sawn African Mahogany...

Recommended Posts

Quarter-sawn wood is more stable of course, but that would be more important with the neck I think.

Mahogany is very easy to work with. I've used mahogany (can't remember if it was Honduran or African). You shouldn't have trouble carving either one I don't think.

I agree with Erik. If your African Mahogany is Khaya, it can be a bit more fiberous(stringy) than Honduran. Because of that I find Honduran slightly easyer to work. That would probably be most significant on shaping the back of a neck. For the body of a solid body electric it would not be much of an issue.
