avengers63
Posted Nov 2 2008, 06:11 PM Trying to have it done by the end of the year. Don't feel bad. I had plans on having three done before Thanksgiving and they're still not there.

Rick500
Neck before oil and after one application of Tru-oil, wet-sanded with 600 grit sandpaper. The oil really brought out the flame in the maple and the color of the limba!
riffster
That neck is a beauty! Lovin the combination of woods there. I am going to be using tru oil on my neck also. I cant wait to see my curly Honduran mahogoany pop like your Limba did!
ae3
Yeah that tru-oil made the neck "POP" as they say. Too bad no one will see it when your on stage hahahah but I guess it's beuty is just for you!
Prostheta
The oil really does make that neck look even better for sure. I have to ask though - are you going to sand/scrape back the oil so you can glue the tenon in? Titebond (if that's what you aim to use) will take one look at the oil and laugh whilst refusing to adhere well :-\
ae3
You make tight-bond sound like an enemy of the Ninja-Turtles
Rick500
Yes, plan is to scrape and then rough up the tenon a little with sandpaper. I wavered on whether or not to glue the neck in first and then finish, or finish first, and decided it to finish first.
Daniel Sorbera
Very very nice. I never thought of doing an oil finish on limba, and man did it turn out great! I'll have to do some like that in the future.
