krazyderek
my router doesn't have a guide attachement either, i just made a template (or you could use rails) and the correct sized bit, with a 1/2" bearing on the shank. plywood channel template, neck blank
daveq
You can also just grab a board with a straight edge and double stick it (or clamp) it so that the edge of the router base runs along it. Just place the board at 1/2 the router base's dia. away and you'll be good to go! If you make a template then you'll likely need a bearing bit. If you make a slot in your template like Derek's, make sure it has a bearing - in that case it is extremely dangerous to use a non-bearing type bit (it may generate too much heat and just snap right off). What kind of truss rod are you installing?
westhemann
keep in mind most routers do have the way to attach it...the holes in the side of the router base are where it goes...
angry_jeremy
I'm planning on installing the 2-way hot rod from StewMac, and will probably get the router bit from them just so that everything fits nice and snug. Thanks for the ideas guys
