Davis guitars
wow looking good im about to start a similar build with a few mods lol ...but i was gonna ask where u go the temp?
SG3390
I think it would look kick-ass with a kahler on there, but, hey thats just me! I'm a bit biased... lol.
eddiewarlock
I got that template from a plan that a member here posted, unfortunately it´s just a jpg picture, but i printed it to real size. I´d love to put a Kahler too, but they are expensive, 200$ for the hybrids , well an original floyd costs the same, but i´d go for a PING Floyd...truth is, i don't use tremolos, but an RR1 guitars MUST have either a kahler or a floyd
Curtis P
Pretty sure I remeber hearing that was not completly correct on that drawing, Not quite sure who i heard it fro, or if i am even correct, but i just remeber that,
eddiewarlock
well, the one i printed seems to be OK, i laid a RR on top of it and it lined up pretty well, so i guess it´s ok, still, all i need is the outline, i will measure and do the routing with my own measures, i´m not that dumb NEVER EVER trust a plan on the internet, much less one that was a jpg. picture
SG3390
I got a Kahler 7300 (Hybrid) for $160ish + shipping. Website:Kahler Trem
eddiewarlock
That'¡s a very good price for a Kahler, but you still have to buy the nut...and kahler nuts are expensive, I could use a floyd nut too though...the thing is, i´d need to build the guitar with an angle in order to have it kahler ready, so the guitar would sit unpainted for a long time before i can buy the bridge. What i will do is use a cheap very very cheap floyd copy i have and since it has the same dimensions of an original floyd it will do until i can buy the PING floyd rose, which is the same price as the Kahler, only thing i don't like it´s that it comes with an R2 nut... eddiewarlock
lol sorry to be a pest but think u could email me ur scaled version? ... i mean like the scale pictures! i didn´t scale it up on a program, i took it to a place where they print plans and i told them i needed the pickup cavities to be 9 cm wide, or the fretboard end to be 5,6 cm and then i compared it to a Randy Rhoads guitar and it matched the dimensions of it, sorry man
westhemann
the kahler 7300 sits just as far above the body as a recessed floyd...my explorer has no neck angle.and yes,you can use a floyd nut.
Xanthus
Now I swear I've seen an RR guitar without a trem... I can't seem to remember where... Just messin' with ya, kid, but it looks like it's coming out pretty nicely! Where'd you get that fretboard? Thanks for the picture, too, even if it isn't to scale, haha. Looking at it, it really seems like the wiring, channels and whatnot could be handled a lot better. This is going to be my next project, a modified RR5. Now it's just a tossup at using the extra money to buy guitar parts or finance guitar lessons.......

How did the drilling of hole for the wiring of the input jack go? I was just worried about hitting the Floyd route and not the pickup cavity when I did my king v. eddiewarlock
Ok, it's completed now! I changed pickups and that's why it took me a bit longer to finish it, i originally was going to for an EMG 85, but i hate how they sound, so i ordered a GFS crunchy rails pickup, and it sounds like heaven!! I love the pickup, oh and before someone complais about the Jackson logo, the guitar looked empty without a headstock logo, it is just a vynil sticker, it hasn't been cleared over it, nor it will be cleared over it here are some more pics http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd.../IMAG0003-9.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd...IMAG0002-12.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd.../IMAG0004-8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd.../IMAG0005-4.jpg And here some more pics from when it had the EMG http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd.../IMAG0011-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/edd.../IMAG0010-1.jpg Edited August 30, 2007 by eddiewarlock
