jer7440
I'm doing some inlay into ebony and I want to use black epoxy. Do any of you color regular epoxy with ebony dust? Does anyone, other than StewMac, sell black epoxy?
HuntinDoug
Go to a local hardware store for a 25ml tube of clear epoxy ($3 to $4). Order a 1 oz bottle of Master brand black furniture powder from StewMac ($8?). It works well, and will last you a while.
ElysianGuitars
or you could mix the epoxy with ebony dust, works really well.

jer7440
Any idea where to find the black super glue?
amdmonster
you better be fast with super glue. I use to get the black epoxy from stew-mac till they were out for about 2 weeks so i decided to get some of the 30min epoxy thats in the syringe type thing from home depot and mixed ebony dust powder with it. The only place i've ever seen black super glue is at hobby shops

johnsilver
System Three brand of epoxy also makes pigment for epoxy in several colors that makes it suitable for inlay in either ebony or rosewood for example. I bought some black pigment at my local Woodcraft store but you could check anywhere that sells System Three products.
Desopolis
i purchased the black dust from stewmac, but then I realized, after I cut the taper/fretslots/radius of the board, I had more ebony dust then what came in the container. ibnaz5150
Curious here...has anyone tried to mix black transtint dye with epoxy? I know you can add this to a grain filler to make it black.
low end fuzz
that could work; on pitch blk gabon i use the dust and epoxy and add blk xerox powder, it gives it the polished shine along with the rich dark
