thewongster
Hi, im making a telecaster with a singlecoil size humbucker from guitar fetish and a vintage alnico in the bridge (chrome cover) also from guitar fetish. I think its the lil killer one (the humbucker). Anyways, are they any good? havent ordered them yet. Also can someone explain to me what potentiometer I should get? Guitar fetish says that I need like a push pull pot, can someone tell me what that is?
mammoth guitars
Hi, im making a telecaster with a singlecoil size humbucker from guitar fetish and a vintage alnico in the bridge (chrome cover) also from guitar fetish. Guitar fetish says that I need like a push pull pot, can someone tell me what that is? A push/pull pot is a potentiometer with a built in switch. The switch state is changed by pulling the knob or the shaft of the pot. There is a noticable click when its pulled or pushed back in. thewongster
and what does this switch do?
GregP
It does whatever you assign it to do. Is he recommending them because you want coil-cutting options? If you're just going to use them as full-size humbuckers, you don't need them. Also, even if you want coil-cutting, you might be better off using a custom wiring scheme and a 4-pole, 5-position "superswitch". That's the option I personally prefer. JoeAArthur
From the guitarfetish website: "It's wired with four conductors, so just add a push-pull pot and you can instantly go from humbucker to single coil without adding any holes to your prized Tele" I guess I can see where it might be interpreted as a need rather than an option.
