Pr3Va1L
Hey, I was wondering if anyone had a Hamer XT (import) guitar? I've been eyeing some hamer guitars (a standard and a sunburst) and I was wondering if they were worth the price for them? Is the construction good/harware OK??? Thanks! Daniel Sorbera
The thing with imports is there very inconsistent. I've played some that are great, and some that have never left the factory. If your happy with the way it playes, sounds, and looks than go for it.
haggardguy
Pm Curtis P, I think he bought one a while back and said that he thought it was good. MY guess is that it won't be fantastic and thwe elctronics will probably need an upgrade and it might need to be setup but other than that I wouldn't expect much worse. Primal
Well, the one i'm eyeing has Seymour Duncan pickups, so I tought... What the heck if the craftsmanship is any good, why not? Seymour Duncan? Or Duncan Design? They are quite different.
marksound
The import Hamers have Duncan Designed pickups. Where is the XT series made? China? I have a Korean SATF ($100 ebay special) that is exceptional for what I paid for it. Held up next to my bud's USA Artist you can see some obvious differences, but on its own it's stellar. There is some nice stuff coming out of China these days. I have internal conflicts about the Chinese situation as a whole, but still ... As an aside, I just got one of these: Made in China, amazing quality for the price. Looks good, sounds good, plays good. This is a guitar I'm not afraid to take out to the bars. So anyway, to answer your question I'd say don't be afraid to own one, but look for a bargain.
Larry
Well, the one i'm eyeing has Seymour Duncan pickups, so I tought... What the heck if the craftsmanship is any good, why not? Seymour Duncan? Or Duncan Design? They are quite different. You could always find one in the trash perhaps or Ebay that can be customized. I refinished this Focus 111S in Fender vintage white from Stewmac and re-wired with 60 re-issue pups. Of course Duncs would be pretty cool in this Focus. ADMIN EDIT: Larry- we don't have pics in our sigs here. I removed it for ya. Thanks.
Curtis P
As Haggardguy said, I have one, its an Explorer style, heres what I have to say about it: I like it, the stock pickups in it were not that crisp, but I replaced them with Seymour Duncan 59's , and it sounds pretty good now. Mine is a Mahogany Body with a 2 peice maple neck, rosewood FB, 24.75 scale, TOM bridge, blah blah blah, heres a few links of the pics: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur...s/NewGuitar.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur...NewGuitar11.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur.../NewGuitar3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur...s/NewStereo.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur.../NewGuitar6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur.../NewGuitar7.jpg Crappy pics, I know, i lost a few of them, if you want/need more i will gladly take more and send them to you. Hope this helps you Curtis
Pr3Va1L
Well, the model I'm looking for is the new (from last NAMM) Standard Korina, wich has a JB\59 combo... I want to see if it would be possible to have one from my local dealer or maybe i'll try Ebay... I'm afraid though... The specs state an Alder neck... I think it might be a typo, but I certainely hope it is not alder! How stable is an alder neck?? Anyways, thanks for your help!
Curtis P
i re read your first post, and you were wondering about the construction. When i had mine apart, the neck pocket was very neat and tight fitting, the pickup routes where a little shoddy in 2 spots (just looks like the route slipped a little) and same with the wire channel, it had a slight router slippage in it, but its covered by the pickgaurd, which is fine by me. For the price (i paid about 300 canadain for mine) I really, really like it, I plan to add a nice set of black grover tuners with a black TOM and black pickgaurd, just to be a bit different.
