VanKirk
I haven't decided on the shape yet but you're single cut REALLY grew on me once I thought about how comfortable that thing might be to play so I may love it when it's done (not that my opinion means jack, lol ) I have to say this...and totally meant as fun ribbing; The gap between the tuning pegs looks a little off (I had to say it, I'm a gifted smart-ass)
jay5
The gap between the tuning pegs looks a little off They're supposed to be like that, it was a concious design decision,..................
haggardguy
Don't bring that up again...
Myka Guitars
Hey Godin, that's a cool design. I like it. I think the thin body will also be pretty cool. One of the last projects I did had a 1-1/2" thick body. It turned out to be a very comfortable guitar. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one! LGM Guitars
Well, have fun with the guitar, but that's far from 5A quilt.

Drak
Wow, that's YOUR design? I really like it, and might quite steal it! (if I asked, that wouldn't be stealing then, would it?)
komodo
I like the design a lot! I personally think the headstock looks a little to heavy (visually) for the body design though, or maybe the shape doesn't relate as much as it could. not a deal breaker though . . . GregP
I'm not loving the design, but I like that it's unique. Greg
thegarehanman
Greg, it seems like you don't really like anyone's designs. You should go build something(all of it). EDIT: And I didn't even type what I had originally intended. Tisk, tisk. That's a fine looking mockup Godin. As much as you like the offset tuners, I would fix it just so people aren't distracted by that one element. Is that finish the same you're planning on using? Daniel Sorbera
Some more progress but having camera problems so no pics yet... I'm going to try to get pics of every stage. And Yes that is the finish I am planning on using and I'm going to make the tuners all perfectly strait with each other Edited September 27, 2005 by Godin SD
crafty
Looks good. Just watch out on that neck pickup route so close to the lower cutaway. I'd almost use a single-coil size humbucker there like a Lil' 59'er set at an angle like a Strat bridge pickup. Or the old LTD MV-200. Daniel Sorbera
Ok I finally got some pics taken. Here is one of the body, link (lightly wetted) Here is one of the neck ready for a fingerboard and carving, link Heres a pic of the fingerboard (sitting atop my pile o tonewood ) link And heres another one of the body with a stain sample of the color I want (no clear on it) link (or mabye a little lighter than that) Later I will glue on the fingerboard and carve the back of the neck. Than I can rout the neck pocket and glue in the neck. Than do all the routing on the body and away we go. I'm hoping by tomorow night to have at least some of the body routing done and the neck fretted. I'm only about a week away from starting to finish it (if that) I'll try to take progress pics more often. PS: I know thers some spalt on the headstock but I tested it and it's plenty strong. I don't think I'll run into any strgenth issues. Edited September 16, 2005 by Godin SD

frank falbo
That's gorgeous. I do like your stain color, but if it were me, I'd shoot it natural. That is such a great piece of wood. Either way it will be excellent. I'm just glad you didn't choose green or blue or something. That's such a great example in it's natural form that I think only an earthtone is appropriate. Bassisgreat
This looks pretty cool. I like the design. And another vote for natural finish. That maple has some awesome color!
westhemann
stain it! there is waaaay too much natural maple on this forum.i mean REALLY maple is like brownish whiteand stuff
Bassisgreat
meh, I gues the way I look at it is if the wood has character, why cover it? A brown stain will look nice, but I guess it's just not my stizzy, yo. But clearly that's just my opinion, so I encourage everyone to build to their own taste obviously.
