AlGeeEater
Maybe its covering up a flaw No I dont think so He does It on Other guitars, From What I can see There's Just no binding there Nothing, Im not sure why Unless you can see the photographers feet in the pic...maybe he dropped it to prove the neck joint...there's a big crack in the concrete.... HAHAHA Ya Just More proff Of How good these guitars Really are!! !!METAL MATT!! ← Looks like someone took a marker and colored in the binding If there is no binding there, thats unattractive! Strange Fruit
Im gonna go with a guess here, re the dark bit. Im guessing its something to do with the endpin jack. Maybe a removable section to access the wiring, maybe its the bit that holds it in, maybe its something like that. Just a thought.

!!METAL MATT!!
The 'black' bit is ebony binding. Ivoroid comes in 1.2m lengths. You need 2 for a body. Ivoroid has a random grain which cannot be matched so if they are put together the join is visible, something which I don't like. It is an idea taken from acoustic makers. Ok Now I know What's Going on I asked Doug if could Explan The Black on the binding for us And the Quote is What He Had to say! I really Have To say That Sofar this Guy Has Been Extremly Helpful And Friendly !!METAL MATT!!

westhemann
i know of a few fine builders around here who i think are a better deal... not to mention kxk,who charges $1000 less than that(roughly) but that's not to say anything really bad about the price...i just don't know anything about them.the quality doesn't really leap out at me when i look at the pics...i just don't get that feeling ...like the guitar was fussed over.i just don't see the love. they are just very simple to be quite so expensive
Drak
I'm gonna build one (a superthin), and I don't even know why, except I have some excess wood lying about, and it will be yet another 'something different' guitar to have. I'm gonna see if I can carve the back on a convex (concave?) curve, ...you know where the whole back of the body curves/arches inwards? Tum te dum, something else to build now. Digideus
Im really happy that you all like these guys. Ive been plugging Black Machine for a while now, primarily cos Doug is a good friend of mine and ive known him for about 15 years now. Believe me, his guitars are not just pretty. He has spent time developing these instruments over that time to develop the most playable guitars youll ever get your mitts on!

Digideus
I think he is just real busy. He makes guitars 5 days a week. on the odd occasions I see him , its usually at a gig. I had the pleasure of seeing his mouth drop open when he saw Strapping Young Lad recently (hehe, mind blowing!) I know he has been doing a lot for the summer season. There was talk of him endorsing Meshuggah, and some guitarist by the name "Vai" has been linked to his 8 strings as well. I must have mentioned before, but Doug is helping me build my first one soon.... As soon as I find the money.... Unemployment sucks!

Digideus
Sorry dude, I missed that one. The answer is no, I doubt it at the moment but possibly in future, It all depends on building a prototype at the moment, but Im busy recrafting the design slightly as the full size blow up did show some flaws in my original idea. Back to teh drawing board!
