Primal
And here I thought by the title of the topic that it was going to be something about Primus... "They call me Mr. Knowitall, I will not compromise. I will not be told what to do, I shall not step aside!" -- Come to think of it, that sounds kind of like you, Drak! KILLER looking wood, man. Hate to see it being covered up with that maple, however.
AlGeeEater
OH MY GOD. You never told me it would be this sweet. Still don't know what color eh?

westhemann
Hate to see it being covered up with that maple, however. i disagree...i think covering up all that purple is going to make it better.
AlGeeEater
How about purple? Just a thought... ← How about no. He is putting the maple over it Burst I say! I also agree with wes Edited July 5, 2005 by AlGeeEater
n8rofwyo
Looks like the router took a bigger bite than you wanted, but at least it threw the chip instead of eating it - right! What are your thoughts of the final finish? Looks like you have something nice on your hands - really dig the fish hook horns. Primal
I think you all are just too insecure in your manhood to play a purple guitar.

Drak
The blank was drawn for a Floyd (which you can see if you look at the 2nd pic) But I decided to go 24 3/4" and TOM/carved top. The tops not 'real' thick, but thick enough to get a little carvin' goin' on.
Primal
That color scheme sounds awesome. Have you done a carve top on that body style before? I don't ever recall seeing one.
Drak
Nope. Actually, I've only done 1 other guitar with this body shape last year and tossed it...but not because of the shape. It was a drop-top. WOD makes me do bad things.
Primal
I thought I've seen other guitars of yours with the body shape...

Drak
I think you're keying in on the upper horns, which, in a way, -is- part of my ehhh, 'trademark' look, but the bottom is completely different. The bottom 1/2 of this one is your basic Iceman shape, but I've modified it somewhat to what I wanted out of it.

And yes, I did recognize the horns, as they are the most prominant feature in your designs.
Drak
One of the things I modified was to actually remove that typical Iceman point at the bottom, hahaha! I 'think' I flipped the basic shape too, can't remember to be honest...
Gemleggat
I like the Iceman thing but i hate the balance it has without a top horn, your shape is much better. You work so fast Drak! Also who is WOD, im guess its a being/thing that takes all the mistakes and burns/eats/blows them up etc.

GregP
Drak, I have chambered my body in a similar way, and I was wondering-- what approach are you going to take for the electronics? I was planning on just using the chamber as the 'cavity', but I haven't decided what to do for the cover yet. Probably just do a ledge since I've left enough wood... but the jury's still out. Love the 'trademark' horns. Greg

I think im going to have to call this one barney just because of all the purple going on.
Drak
BARNEY?????? Ack ack ack ack ack!!!!!! How about 'Mutated Squid Death'? jk..... Thanks Gem. I'll post a pic of the back (and the front with the top on it) so you can see what I'm doing electronics-wise. I thought about cutting out the back wood for a cover, I usually do that, but didn't do it here. Black cover will go well with purple anyway. MzI
why make a guitar with a solid body of purple heart? to do it. I am actually working on 2 right now. No chambers in my guitars MzI
