!!METAL MATT!!
Oh ya one more thing Iam not to sure what type of finish I should use Iam thinking about useing tru oil but I have never tryed it before and Iam not sure it an oil finish will hold in the color of the wood any advice? !!METAL MATT!! deadmike
matt. youve done it again!! the jack socket and back plates are amazing!!!!! i never would of thought of doing something like that. great touches to an awesome looking axe. i couldnt do that with my back plate as its pretty thick and id need something industrial to cut through it. but perhaps on another guitar i might pinch that jack socket idea and slip a thin plate of shaped metal under the bolt that holds it together, and maybe some under the pots as well. im completely inspired! !!METAL MATT!!
Thank's Mike , Ya I realy like the jack plate but I realy hate the neck plate it just does not look right to me it look's off center or something and it was A bit forced on my part I think I was trying way to hard and it came out looking like crap to me but it was fun !!METAL MATT!! Maiden69
That's why I use ferrules from now on. They look good, no matter what type guitar you are building!
deadmike
if you dont mind me asking, what did you use for the plates, just thin steel? they look really good, especially the batman jack socket. i think i might try making a skull shaped one for my punk guitar. !!METAL MATT!!
Well the jack plate was just a thin bit of steel I stole from my old 1952 chevy before I sold it and the neck plate was just that a neck plate I drilled out some hole's and I started to grind and sand. !!METAL MATT!! daveq
Awesome Matt! Have you ever considered trying tru-oil? Just a thought. Actually, you have a connection for clear coating, don't you? That guitar you entered in the GOTM had a killer finish on it. Can you have it finished that way? I love this guitar though - very creative and it just looks very professional. Great work yet again. Maiden69
Make it!!! Ain't that hard, some styrofoam or that refrigeration expanding foam, your guitar, a wood shell, and upholstry material to finish it off,
Mickguard
nice original design...that thing looks dangerous!!! I vote for a transparent blood red....I don't usually like that oiled wood look....and I don't think 'natural finish' goes well with 'impaler'; see what I mean? Excellent idea with the plates, but yeah I think you should redo the neck plate --you need something that works better with the shape of the guitar....how about cutting up a longer piece of steel? you could make a case out of wood, of course. Friend of mine made one out of an old plastic sign. Edited January 11, 2005 by idch
